Battlefield Park Convalescent Center in Petersburg held its fifth annual Ms. Battlefield Park Beauty Pageant on May 12. There were 12 contestants dressed in formal gowns, complete with hair styled and make-up applied by a volunteer from Mary Kay Cosmetics.
They entered the room escorted by fellow male residents in suits under the lighted arbor. They were announced by David Walker of At Home Care and judged by Dr. Holvar Olsen of Cares Shelter, Wendy Boggs of Hospice of Central Virginia, and Clarence Kelly of Petersburg Ford.
Elizabeth Vaughan was chosen as Ms. Battlefield Park 2004. She was presented with flowers from Barbara's Florist and balloons from Balloon Blossoms. Her wish was to take a convertible ride through Petersburg to see Dr. Steele, whom she used to take care of [his home and family]. She often talks about how important they are to her with a big smile across her face.
Thanks to Petersburg Ford for making her wish come true.
